How I admire the teens of today!

I must confess that I do admire the teens of today, for so many reasons. I can certainly attest to the fact that everyone's schedules are busier than ever and our teens are no exception. Of course school work is demanding, but if you really take a look at what is expected from them it's nothing short of a wake up call!

Yes, we all had to think and try to plan for a future we were unsure of...granted! Today, however, just to get into a decent college they need brains, ambition, sports, community service and a plan.

My two daughters are part of a Gymnastics team, they work their hearts out...week after week, 12 months a year, and I admire the hell out of them! It's great in so many ways, they are learning stamina, devotion, follow through, time management as well as pride in their own accomplishments! All in addition to the physical lessons & benefits that this kind of sport provides. Nothing in life comes without a price, but it's really cool when you can see kids rise to the expectations of today!

Perhaps I'm just lucky, I happen to know quite a few terrific young people and it definitely reflects in my characters for this book. Like I tell my kids, keep doing your best and never give will pay off!

re: How I admire the teens of today!

I couldn't agree more! I feel lucky I don't have to go through the teenage years today. They were hard enough (way) back when, but there seem to be even more demands as well as more distractions teens have to deal with on a daily basis. With daughters like yours, it's easy to see why you "admire the hell" out of them!

Welcome to the blogosphere, dear friend! I look forward to reading more. So excited for you!
